Reconnecting with Old Friends During Quarantine

By Christine Koehring of TheSaltyMamas.com

Let’s face it, quarantine is a weird time to be a Mom. Our kids are out of school, happy hours with our friends are done over Zoom, and we can’t sit on a park bench drinking coffee with our friends while we pretend to watch our kids.

But there is good news!

Now is the perfect time to reconnect with some of your very best friends! You know, the ones that send you Facebook messages personally addressed with “Hey Girl!” They are ready to invite you to their party and are super excited to remind you that you can wear your sweatpants – because quarantine hair, don’t care, amiright?

Haven’t seen your friend Candice in 7 years, since you were in that Mommy and Me fitness class? Well, has life got a surprise for you! She’s selling Usborne books and knows your son….okay, it’s been 7 years, she’s not REALLY sure you had a boy….would LOVE some new activity books to keep him – her? – busy!

I mean, if there are two things we are all really missing right now, it’s contact with our besties and shopping. Thankfully, our good old friends know how much we’re jonesing and they are striking while the iron is hot! So whether it’s your high school bestie’s cousin trying to sell you essential oils or your ex boyfriend’s sister trying to sell you sex toys, you are guaranteed to get the best of both worlds during quarantine!

Nail salon closed? Buy genuine nail strips from your son’s old preschool teacher! Hair desperate for salon quality attention? I heard the PTA president just became an independent consultant for Monat! Or are you just feeling sluggish? Well you’ve got seven long lost friends right now playing a very intense game of Rock, Paper Scissors over Zoom for who gets to sell you Shakeology first!

And the best part is these aren’t just products. These are real live people that REALLY want to connect with you and build lasting friendships. I mean, why’d you ever stop being friends anyway? And isn’t it something that giving them some money can fix?

So stop dwelling on all that you’re missing right now, and start focusing on all the things – and friendships – you could be gaining. All it takes is your credit card number…and maybe a little self-respect.
