York, PA — A local mom is in the hospital tonight after she opened an upper cabinet door in her kitchen.
It all started after her kids came home from another birthday party where one of the favors was a plastic sports water bottle. Her children got very upset when they found their precious water bottles the next day in the recycling bin, in the garage, hidden underneath several milk and juice cartons.
[adsanity id=”35664″ align=”aligncenter”/]“Please don’t throw them out, Mom! We love them and want to keep them forever!” the children cried.
She reluctantly obliged, but it would turn out to be one of the biggest mistakes of her life. She opened the door to the cabinet that housed all of the other plastic bottles and cups they had received as favors at various parties, and when she tried to fit the new bottles in, they all shifted, triggering an avalanche of plastic that cascaded down on her, knocking her to the floor.
[adsanity id=”35667″ align=”aligncenter”/]Her family, upon hearing the commotion, continued doing whatever they were doing for several hours. But when dinner time rolled around and food didn’t magically appear on the dining room table, they became curious.
They walked into the kitchen to find a pile of plastic cups and water bottles, but no wife and mother. While the children excitedly grabbed all the cups and bottles about which they had forgotten, they uncovered their mother’s face. Upon seeing her, they promptly asked her what was for dinner, but she did not respond.
[adsanity id=”35665″ align=”aligncenter”/]They could see that she was still breathing, but they couldn’t get her to wake up to make them food. They immediately rushed her to the hospital where she remains unconscious, but in stable condition.
UPDATE: As it turns out, the mother was NOT in a coma after all, but was merely faking it so she could get some peace and quiet, and perhaps a solid 8 hours of sleep.
