Model Rocks Unibrow At London Fashion Week, So Put Down Those Tweezers, Ladies

The unibrow is having a moment, so back away from the tweezers, ladies. BACK AWAY. Forget waxing, threading, and shaping. The time has come to embrace your inner unibrow goddess and set her free.

Model Sophia Hadjipanteli took London Fashion Week by storm recently and brought her brows, or more accurately, brow, to the party. While the show was hampered by fears of the coronavirus and travel restrictions banning a number of retailers from China, the world’s largest consumer of luxury fashion goods, it wasn’t about to stop Hadjipanteli from taking a front-row seat.

This year, London Fashion Week showcased pieces from the Autumn/Winter 2020 collections of over 250 designers, including Burberry, Victoria Beckham, Tommy Hilfiger, Temperley London, and Vivienne Westwood.

Although the 23-year-old Instagram influencer did not take a stroll down the catwalk as she did in September 2019, she was front and center at the Ashish show alongside fashion icon Billy Porter. She was also photographed at Vanity Fair’s EE Rising Star Award party. In addition, she modeled for an ad campaign for Bentley Motors during the show.

But that’s not all. The monobrow model also just so happens to be gracing the front cover of Glamour UK this month, celebrating self-love.

In an interview with the magazine, Sophia tells Glamour:

There is beauty in the unusual and there is power in defining your own standard of beauty. From a young age, most people are taught to get rid of their body hair. People grow up with the mentality that a few extra hairs on our eyebrows are something to be ashamed of.

She goes on to say:

I am extremely proud to be who I am in a society where we are constantly pressured to be what everyone else wants.

She didn’t start out to become the founder of the #UnibrowMovement. What began as an eyebrow tinting incident when she unwittingly colored her naturally blonde eyebrows black morphed into a symbol of body positivity. And while she obviously embraces her bushy brow, even nicknaming it “Veronika,” she is not without her critics.

For all of the many positive comments on her Instagram posts, there are also a number of negative ones. She has even received death threats. BECAUSE OF HER EYEBROWS. And clearly, there are people out there who would benefit from some therapy. Just sayin’.

But the negativity isn’t stopping her. Sophia has appeared in more than 50 publications worldwide, including Vogue, Elle, Harpers Bazaar, New York Times and Vanity Fair. And she currently boasts 414K Instagram followers.

So go ahead: next time you look in the mirror and question your poor, forgotten, overgrown brows, don’t. Free your follicles. Stop running away from those bushy brows.

Or keep running. Those strips of hair over your eyes? Do with them what you will. Just whatever you do, please, don’t do this:
