Because you’ve got shit to do, and only a minute or two before a kid starts yelling, “Moooooooom!” let’s dive right in to the down and dirty.
Bernie’s mittens took the internet by storm
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that the Presidential Inauguration happened. It was glorious. We have a woman of color, Kamala Harris, as Vice President, and two workin’ moms in the White House – Kamala and Jill Biden. Kamala’s husband, Doug Emhoff, a lawyer, has chosen to take a break from work in order to support his wife during her term, and Jill will continue teaching.
While Lady Gaga and J-Lo had their moments, it was ultimately Amanda Gorman, a 22-year-old poet, and Bernie’s mittens that stole the show.

Move over, sanctimommies, the truck nuts on this Oregon car jacker are HUGE.
Crystal Leary did what many moms sometimes want to do (and maybe have) while running errands with our kids. She left her 4-year-old in the car while she quickly ran into a meat market 15 feet away with a clear view of her car and child. That’s when a man hopped into Leary’s running vehicle and drove off.
When the suspect (described as a Caucasian male with long, dark brown hair in braids) realized a child was in the car, he returned to the meat market and criticized the mother, threatening to call the police, before driving off again in Leary’s silver 2013 Pilot.
“As moms, we get really busy, and we think we’re just running in for a second. This is just a perfect example of letting our guards down and how terribly it could have ended,” Leary said. “So, I’m just thankful that he’s OK. It was so stupid, and I’ll never do that again. But it’s that split second decision that could just change everything.”
“This is a good learning lesson for all of us who have children. Be extra careful with your kids, take the extra step to make sure they’re safe,” Beaverton Police Spokesman, Officer Matt Henderson, said.
Betty Turns 99
Long-time actress, Betty White, who is best known for her role as Rose Nyland on Golden Girls, turned 99 on Sunday. She said she planned on celebrating by feeding two ducks who visit her home every day, working on getting The Pet Set re-released, and eating a hot dog and fries with her agent and friend, Jeff Witjas, who brought her roses.
“Since I am turning 99, I can stay up as late as I want without asking permission!” she joked in an email.

Monkey Tail Beards and Dark Circles Are Things That Are Trending For…Reasons I’m Sure
In the category of “trends literally no one asked for,” we have monkey tail beards and dark under-eye circles. Like, on purpose.
Mike Fiers, a MLB baseball player, was the first to sport (haha, puns) this bizarre lewk back in September of 2019, to get a laugh out of his teammates. The ‘do involves a long, tail-like beard hair formation extending down from one sideburn, around the chin, and around the mouth.
Mamas are having another moment to shine. We’ve seen mom jeans in vogue, and greasy hair, too. But look out, fellow tired moms, because shading your lower eyes to look like they have dark circles is in style. I know I pull this look off without even trying *shines nails on my stained shirt.*

The trend was sparked by beauty TikToker @daniellemarcan who uses a dark brown eyeshadow pen to give her face some “sunken bog witch” pizzazz in a video with over 7 million views.
Jojo Siwa Came Out???
Jojo Siwa, a 17-year-old former dance student on the reality show Dance Moms turned idol to young people, has fans wondering if she unofficially came out as gay. In a TikTok video, the star lip syncs to a specific verse in Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” that goes: “No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgender life, I’m on the right track baby I was born to survive,” while wearing a large bow (which is her signature style) with rainbows on it and a multicolored, bedazzled shirt.

Fans swarmed the comments to congratulate Jojo, including James Charles, a famous LGBTQ beauty icon, and Jojo’s brother Jayen Siwa who wrote, “So happy for you JoJo!!! Love you!”
Jojo also donned a “best gay cousin ever” shirt in her Instagram stories and on Twitter, which was gifted to her by her cousin and which some have taken as confirmation.
Still, some are skeptical and warn that people shouldn’t jump to conclusions. But as many fans have already voiced, Jojo is loved and embraced no matter how she identifies and that’s pretty kickass.
A 91-year-old man with dementia can barely remember his own face but remembers to go outside for a heartwarming reason
91-year-old Gene McGehee from Vidalia, Louisiana, meets his “neighbors” across the street for the “first time” every day for the last 3 years, says daycare teacher, Megan Nunez. Gene is ecstatic whenever he opens the door and is met with children who are happy to include them as they play.
McGehee’s daughter, Cathy, says her father has severe dementia (he barely remembers his own face) and suffered from loneliness until the daycare children came into his life. For about an hour every day, Gene sits and plays with the children. And although he forgets almost entirely, every day he has the instinct to go outside.
“He just goes right to the front yard…Because it’s love,” Cathy says. “And, you know, everybody responds to love.”
