Crayola Celebrates Diversity With A New Line of Skin-Tone Color Crayons

Crayola has recently announced the upcoming release of a new line of crayons: Colors of the World.

The 24-pack of crayons contains a variety of skin tone colors, while the 36-pack also includes eight colors for eyes and hair. There’s a coloring book as well.

This announcement was made on the UN World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. Crayola CEO Rich Wuerthele shared, “We want the new Colors of the World crayons to advance inclusion within creativity and impact how kids express themselves.”

Crayola teamed up with Victor Casale, CEO of MOB Beauty, whose 30+ years of experience creating makeup skin foundations helped ensure the crayon colors represent a wide range of skin tones.

Much like our coveted toilet paper, this new line of Crayola products is already flying off the virtual shelves. The crayons aren’t officially released until July, but you can pre-order on Crayola’s site and Walmart. Here’s hoping Crayola makes this item readily available for small businesses as well so we can #shoplocal.

Now please excuse me while I go stock up on adult coloring books and dig out my contraband Dandelion crayon, whose forced retirement a few years back makes a lot more sense now. Had to make more room in the office.
