It feels like it’s been cold and flu season for the last 37 months. There are coughing kids with boogery faces everywhere you look. No matter how often you douse your family with hand sanitizer or how many cart wipes you use at Target, it seems impossible to stay healthy.
I thought we had lucked out, over a month in without a snotty nose in sight. Then it happened: a kid with a cough entered our home, and within hours my own kids were sneezing and coughing. OK, so maybe symptoms don’t actually show up that quickly. But as far as I’m concerned, that kid was Patient Zero and I will forever give their parents the stink-eye for trying to pass it off as allergies. The most important thing I’ve learned in nearly 18 years of parenting is that it’s never “just allergies.”
Once your kids are sick, preparations begin for the inevitable Mom Cold – which is basically us doing everything we normally do, but with tissues shoved up our nostrils. Then, God forbid, comes the Dad Cold. If you think you already have it bad waiting on your little ones hand and foot, just wait until your hubby gets sick. Florence Nightingale ain’t got nothin’ on a wife whose husband has sneezed twice.[adsanity id=”35664″ align=”aligncenter”/]
