Viral 2016 Song and Video Proves We’re Not Imagining It: 2016 Definitely Sucks

What is happening this year? Serious question.

In any given year, you can tally the number of horrific national and global events on one hand. But in 2016? This year has been a different beast entirely.

On a worldwide scale, we have Brexit, the Bastille Day attack, new Ebola outbreaks in Africa, and the bombing in Brussels, to name a few. And on a national scale, we have the Orlando shooting, the Louisiana flood, the Disney gator attack, the Dallas police shooting and other shootings across the United States, Harambe, Zika, clowns, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Gene Wilder, Leonard Cohen, Florence Henderson, Brock Turner, Kanye West (to be fair, that guy sucks every year), and Donald Trump.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE TO DESERVE THIS, GOD? Seriously, just tell us and we’ll make it better. We swear.

It’s no wonder, then, that The 2016 Song by Flo & Joan — who are really musical comedy sisters, Nicola and Rosie Dempsey — has drawn millions of views and thousands of comments and shares.

The song and video, which was posted to the duo’s Facebook page on November 21, covers quite a few of this year’s nightmares (many of which are mentioned above) in a hilarious and catchy tune, declaring 2016 “the skidmark of all the shitty years.”

If we have to suffer through one more month of this garbage dump of a year, at least we can do so in humor. So thanks for that, Flo & Joan. Every little bit helps.

Watch the video below, but be forewarned: it’s definitely NSFW. And also, you’re welcome.
