Back to school is simultaneously the most joyous and hellish of occasions for parents. On the one hand, you can finally ship your kids off to someplace else and get a little peace and quiet already. Kids refusing to listen, leaving trash all over the place, and bickering non-stop? Sorry, Teach. Your problem now. (Just kidding. Still our problem because MAMA DIDN’T RAISE YOU TO BE AN ANIMAL, YA HEAR?)
On the other hand, there’s the school supply shopping. It’s like the Hunger Games up in there, only instead of hunting each other, you’re hunting for obscure dry erase markers and every glue stick created since the dawn of time. Need I say more?
As a teacher, back to school for me is no less of an emotional roller coaster. I am excited for a brand new school year and ready to get to know the 100+ faces who will grace my classroom for the next 9.5 months (not to mention super ready to give my own spawn the boot). But I also DON’T WANNA GO PLEASE DON’T MAKE ME I LIKE SLEEP AND HAVING NO RESPONSIBILITIES AND NOT HAVING TO FORK OVER MY SALARY FOR THE SCHOOL SUPPLIES THAT DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT *SOB*.
