Looking for a Great Sheet Set? California Design Den Has Got You Covered

I received a set of king-size sheets in exchange for a review. All opinions are my honest assessment of the product.

I’m picky about my sleep. I need the perfect room temperature, the perfect white noise to drown out my husband’s snoring, and the perfect sheets.

The latter is harder to find than you think.

First of all, I’m not about to drop a ton of money on linens. Look, I know you get what you pay for, but I can’t bring myself to spend hundreds of dollars on something that sits under my blankets and never sees the light of day. I just can’t.

Second of all, I’m the kind of person who needs crisp yet soft bedding. It’s a conundrum because basically I’m asking for a contradiction that’s nearly impossible to create.

Third of all, I need something that’s going to keep me cozy and warm during those long winter months and cool and comfy during the sweltering summer months without giving me night sweats during either. Like, could I be any pickier?

So when California Design Den reached out to me to see if I’d like to try their 400 thread count, 100% cotton sheets, I was like, “Sure. Good luck meeting my impossible standards.”

And for all my particularity when it comes to bedding — and trust me, I’m beyond particular — I have to say, after a few weeks of testing them out and washing them several times, these sheets are pretty top notch.

Color me surprised.

When they first arrived in the mail, I was so excited to prove nothing could meet my standards that I ripped the box open and immediately put them on my bed. I know you’re supposed to wash anything new before using, but I’m an impatient person, and I don’t like being told how to live.

That was a mistake.

The sheets felt crisp, cool, and soft, which pretty much targets my main requirements, but they did have a funky odor straight out the packaging. Lesson learned, ok?

Into the washer and dryer they went, and when they were finally ready, onto the bed I put them again.

And you guys, IT WAS HEAVENLY.

No odor, no stiffness. Just 100% freshly laundered bedding bliss.

You know that saying about the gloriousness of the cool side of the pillow? YEAH. These sheets definitely deliver in that department.

Also? With my old sheets, I had been sweating like a heifer in a heat wave all night long — like I seriously had to get up and change the sheets in the middle of the night one time. With these? I didn’t once wake up in a puddle of my own body excretions, which may seem like a low bar to set, but honestly. It was becoming a problem.

There is nothing better than climbing into a freshly made bed with brand new sheets. Unfortunately, that feeling only lasts for one night usually. But with these sheets, the bedding maintained that just-washed feeling for several nights, which meant I basked in that sleepy-time euphoria MULTIPLE TIMES between washes.

For a person who’s not too keen on doing laundry every day, this was a high five to my backside. In a good way, of course.

Probably the best part of all? The price tag. I thought for sure these sheets must cost about a hundred bucks or so for a king-size set, but when I looked them up on Amazon, I was pleasantly surprised. Only $46.99 (and available with Prime shipping). That’s only slightly more expensive than the sweat-inducing excuse for bed linens I’d been suffering through previously.

Oh, and I suppose I should mention my husband really likes these new sheets, too. I guess his opinion also counts since he’s got to sleep in there with me.

So if you’re in the market for bedsheets that are decent quality without breaking the bank, I recommend California Design Den 400 thread count, 100% cotton sheets. In fact, I’m going to order myself two more sets.

Just be sure to wash them first. I accept this now.
