As Election Day nears, tensions run high on social media and in our personal lives. Everyone’s got an opinion about whom you should vote for (including me). But have you ever wondered which presidential candidate you align with most when it comes right down to the nitty gritty of your political and social beliefs? One online site, ISideWith.com, has developed an interactive quiz to answer just that, and the results may be surprising.

By taking your responses to a list of questions and comparing them to the candidates’ policies, debate and speech statements, and political history, ISideWith.com provides you with the one candidate you align with most followed by a breakdown of how much you align with each of them.

The questions, which target topics ranging from reproductive rights to environmental issues to immigration, offer two basic response choices followed by a third choice titled “Other stances.” When clicked, the “Other stances” options pop up, offering users who have conditional answers to the questions the opportunity to select a more specific, detailed response, including the freedom to type in their own, customized answers. Users can even rank the importance of and click to learn more about each issue.

Additionally, the site organizes its “submissions by political affiliation, state, city, and referral website, as well as census data estimates by income, race, education, and household” and allows users to click on a state or issue to analyze and explore the data.

Perhaps even most intriguing, the site provides the candidates’ answers regarding their stances and beliefs about many hot-button issues on voters’ minds this election and offers a breakdown of each of their educational and career accomplishments, qualifications, and experiences.

I personally took the quiz, and I was pretty shocked by my top result. The candidate I plan to vote for came in at a close second, however (only 1% lower than my top result), making me feel pretty good about my decision. Still, it was quite interesting and even fun to take the quiz and peruse the site’s features.

Though it is unlikely to change many voters’ minds regarding who they plan to vote for, it could be a useful tool for undecided voters and, if nothing else, is an intriguing way to learn more about the candidates.
