NPR Will Debut First Ever Podcast For Children

Wow in the World, a new podcast for kids ages 5-12, will debut on NPR on May 15. The podcast, which is produced by Tinkercast, will be the first children’s program airing on NPR in the public broadcast network’s 47-year history.

In an age where screens dominate our free time, Wow in the World challenges families to look up and discover the wonders in the world around them.

The show, hosted by NPR’s Guy Raz and SiriusXM’s Mindy Thomas, will air weekly and “invite curious kids and their grown-ups on a journey away from their screens, inside their brains and into the most amazing stories in science, technology, and new discoveries.”

The show aims to make science and learning fun and entertaining, through comedy and conversation.

Each week, Raz and Thomas will answer questions like, “How long would it take to get to the closest star outside our solar system?” or “How do astronauts poop in space?”

What kid doesn’t love to talk about poop?

And even better, they will be learning about the latest scientific research and discoveries all while cracking poop jokes! As a mom, I’m definitely on board.

“This show is not just an alternative to screens but a show about celebrating the spirit of inquiry and encouraging kids to ask even more questions,” says Raz.

Episodes will feature research about space, dinosaurs, animals, technology, and human origins.
