Trick-or-Treater’s Selfless Act Caught on Camera in Now Viral Post

If you’re sad that Halloween is over and we’re settling in to 6 continuous months of cold, wet, and cloud cover (at least for those of us in the North), don’t be. One family’s outdoor camera caught a selfless trick-or-treater paying it forward, and it is smashing hearts and bringing the happy tears to everyone.

Posted by Leslie Hodges on All Hallows Eve, the video footage, which has since gone viral, features a young boy dressed in a Dracula costume, placing his own candy into the bowl reserved for trick-or-treaters after discovering the bowl empty.

HIS OWN CANDY OMG MY HEART CAN’T HANDLE IT.

The selfless hero of the night appears to see the empty bowl and then, after turning around, comments to (his?) toddler sister and mom walking up the driveway, “Oh no! There ain’t no more candy.” Without hesitation, young Dracula then opens his bag and empties some of his own bootie into the bowl, presumably so his fellow ghouls and goblins to follow can get some treats of their own.

IT’S TOO MUCH GOODNESS. TOO MUCH.

In her Facebook post, which is straight up fire by this point, Hodges states:

Caught this on our Nest camera…. this has got to give hope to everyone that there are still amazing people in this world. What a selfless act from this little guy! ❤️ Kudos to his parents!!! Kevin Hodges #imnotcrying

Yes, Leslie Hodges. YES. ThereĀ areĀ still amazing people in this world, and I, for one, needed the reminder. Apparently, I’m not alone.

Of the 20 THOUSAND and climbing comments on the post to date, people can’t get enough of this lad’s sweetness:

Very heartwarming! Sees a need and jumps into action! Very selfless 💜 hopefully my girls marry this kind of person some day. Iā€™m raising them to be the same 😍

Oh that is amazing! What a great kid 😍

And a child shall lead them…

Now that is how you raise a child right!

Mad props to this boy’s parents for undoubtedly leading him down the path of kindness by example, and even more props to the child for having the kind of empathy many adults would do well to possess and then acting on it.

I know what Dracula’s getting for the holidays: a big dose of positive Karma in his corner and, if he’s lucky, maybe an invite to the Ellen DeGeneres show.

You hear that, Ellen?! This kid deserves the recognition and the chance to spread his message of light.
