Men Get Slutty on Halloween for Equal Rights

With the rise of the #MeToo movement, and the overwhelming frustration with the amount of work that still needs to be done in the women’s rights arena, these have been a past few years of women clamoring to have their voices heard. However, according to some people you might ask, it’s an especially threatening time for men.

With feminist issues rising to the political forefront, male activist groups are pushing back in an unlikely way: making a call for men to fight back for the male rights movement by taking to a yet-uncharted front… Halloween.

Seth Bollson, L.A. chapter president for Men’s Equality Needed (M.E.N.), stated, “Girls are allowed to wear whatever they want and get all the attention at Halloween. It’s by far the most sexist holiday. There are women out there using any excuse to dress ‘slutty’ and claim it’s for costume. Frankly, it’s BS; men want to feel wanted, too!”

Although Bollson recognizes that #NotAllMen want to don skimpy fishnets and spandex, he suggests that men do whatever “feels good” when it comes to empowering themselves to “slut-ify” their costumes.

He argues, “Feeling sexy is absolutely for men, too. Men need to take October 31st as their opportunity as well when it comes to embracing sexuality via costume.”

As for what that might look like, Bollson suggests some manly, yet sexy things that might help his fellow dudes get inspired.

“Rings, thick gold chains, I might even break out my three-wolf moon T-shirt and a nice pair of sweatpants and let it all hang out.”

He adds, “One of the men from our chapter is likely to wear a kilt because he feels particularly sexy about his strong thighs, while another is going to grow a badass handlebar ‘stache.”

Ultimately, he says, this is an issue of equality and empowerment.

“Women get to basically have this free pass to truly embrace their sexuality and turn all the heads on Halloween.” Bollson picked at the form-fitting Batman shirt stretched over his ample midsection. “Time’s up; it’s our turn.”
