When Chris Newsome noticed the same toad would appear on his porch day after summer day, he didn’t try to trap or kill the pest. In fact, he didn’t think of this toad as a pest at all. Instead, he thought of him as a friend.
Newsome was so drawn to the amphibian — whom he affectionately named Mr. Toad — that he decided to take that relationship to the next level and fashion his new little buddy some sweet duds. Little hats, to be exact.
Here’s Mr. Toad in a top hat.
And here he is with a top hat and a monacle. A MONACLE. OMG, I can’t handle the cute.
And here he is in a stylishly sideways baseball cap with a “T” — presumably, of course, for “Toad.” GAH.
And finally, here is Mr. Toad in a cowboy hat with a lasso. A LASSO YOU GUYS HOLY CRAP CAN IT GET ANY MORE ADORABLE?
Newsome, according to Mashable, remains hopeful that his BFF will return again this coming summer, at which time he will fashion Mr. Toad more insanely fetching get-ups (I’m just making assumptions with that last part).
In the meantime, I can’t be the only one who hopes Newsome uses his outfitting talents to adorn other unsuspecting critters, can I? I mean, just imagine it.
A lizard in a fedora?
A bunny in a sun bonnet?
A mouse in a tuxedo? C’MON, IT’S TOTALLY POSSIBLE AND YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO SEE IT.
*sigh* Hat tip to you, Mr. Newsome, and to you, Mr. Toad. We’ll all be waiting with bells on to see if this friendship is destined to last the long haul.
