Genocide: How Can We Claim Abortion is Anything Other Than That?

"“Any country that accepts abortion, is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what it wants. It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish." -Mother Teresa

The pecan-size heart beats irregularly. It can be see through translucent skin. A tiny fist opens and closes spasmodically. Then, like the proverbial Thanksgiving turkey, Baby A is carved into anatomically correct pieces. Preserved is a liver here, a brain there. With limbs, spleen and kidneys, all are packaged, labeled and shipped to Corporations Americas.

I wasn’t always pro-life. I believed that all women had a right to make decisions about unplanned pregnancies. My Catholic upbringing was in direct opposition, of course. I had a personal crisis and returned to Catholicism for solace. I researched the statistics on women who abort and learned that the majority become pregnant out of ignorance about the physiology involved or because they are sexually impulsive. Far less become pregnant due to rape or failure of birth control. I easily and readily changed my now educated mind.

Half of pregnancies among American women are unintended and about 4 in 10 of these end in abortion. An estimated 800,000 babies are aborted annually in America alone.

A young 26-year-old man, David Daleiden, was outraged at these findings and dedicated himself to further research. During his studies, he found that Planned Parenthood was selling “baby body parts” to organizations who used the fetuses for medical research. Mr. Daleiden devised a thorough and complex plan to meet with the powers that be at PP and eventually went undercover to film these interactions.

David’s tapes went viral and showed fetuses being dissected. Several of these aborted infants were alive at the time of dissection. His tapes included interviews with PP staff as they joked about their jobs as “baby butchers” and discussions with the president and vice president of America’s largest abortion provider. As they ate lunch at a posh restaurant, these ‘upper echelons’ negotiated with David who feigned being an interested buyer of fetal tissue.

(Planned Parenthood president, Cecile Richards, has recently agreed to not ‘sell’ the parts but to donate them. This is an admission of guilt in my humble opinion. Planned Parenthood originally denied the above sample scenarios, yet hours of undercover tapings show just this.)

Meanwhile, we (and yes, we all are responsible as we have a voice) are busy feigning political correctness: “Women have the right to kill their offspring.”

‘The Donald’ vomits inane and ignorant bile on my nightly news. Three lost pets, the weather, a high speed police chase, and shark sightings in Long Island Sound round out this broadcast. No mention of the sale of fetal tissue for medical research or the hours-long videos portraying this butchering — all of which is readily available for viewing on the internet.

Sickened, heartbroken, and disgusted, I feel predominately confused. When will the typically outspoken Catholic Church raise its voice? Where are the ethics of Obama on this issue? What say you, Joe Citizen, interviewed on the sidewalk on Main Street or the post-abortion women leaving Planned Parenthood? Why do I get 146 Likes when I share a joke on Facebook yet receive only one comment when I share the abortion abomination?

Mahatma Gandhi wrote, “What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or in the holy name of liberty or democracy?” I concede that Gandhi was unlikely speaking of the harvesting of human fetal tissue. He does mean, I believe, that humankind will often destroy the defenseless in its greed and need to control all.

Shall I feel ashamed or out of the loop because I, a Catholic, pro-life woman see this practice as unacceptable, unnecessary, and barbaric? Am I ignorant to surmise that science can use the technology currently in place to defeat cancer, HIV, mental illness, and the like? Am I “less than” as I see this matter of contention mutating into more horror? Abortion alone AND fetal dissection cannot be accepted in a civilized country.

Blessed Mother Teresa stated, “Any country that accepts abortion, is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what it wants. It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish.”

God has given us free will. I cannot imagine that He is pleased with this latest of man’s genocides.

“I am barren. It cannot get any more clear that we will never have any children, but I am struggling. I had hoped that with time, I would have at least days when I carry my profound sadness and failure better. I am not finding that to be true, at least not today.”- Unknown Author
