Bad News Bears: One of Gainesville’s ‘Hot Cops’ Allegedly a Racist

Well, you know what they say. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. And that’s the sentiment that applies to Officer Michael Hamill, featured in the middle of the now viral Gainesville Police Department post, after evidence came to light suggesting the officer is anti-semitic.

According to The Gainesville Sun, Gainesville Police Department received a complaint centering around some social media posts Officer Hamill made in 2011 and 2013 on Facebook. The posts in question read:

Who knew that reading jewish jokes before I go to bed would not only make me feel better about myself but also help me to sleep better as well. Here is one for everybody, “What’s the difference between boy scouts and jews?” Anybody know? Well it is because “Boy scouts come back from their camps.”

so I find it funny that people will talk about how our government needs to do something about our economy and in reality it’s YOU who needs to stop taking advantage of our system and get a life and do something with your life. Gotta love reality when it hits you in the face. Stupid people annoy me. Put them in an oven and deal with them the Hitler way. Haha.

Hamill was sworn into Gainesville Police Department in October of 2016, after these posts were published, but that doesn’t matter. Once a racist, always a racist.

And before anybody comes to this formerly hunky and now down right nasty man’s defense, crying about how it was so long ago and it was a joke, one thing: Jokes about the systematic murder of millions of people are not funny. Not in the least. And I don’t care if he came out of the womb spewing this shit. If someone is low enough to post this garbage, no matter how long ago in their past, they are garbage themselves.

People don’t just change overnight. And a series of racist jokes spanning several years only serves to support that conclusion. Officer Hamill likely still possesses these beliefs, and for someone who is sworn to protect and serve ALL people, regardless of race or religious affiliation, this is concerning.

I guess that’s more than one thing, but still.

Normal, non-racist people don’t post racist jokes. Like ever. Not in 2013, not in 2011, not ever. So that’s not an excuse. Not even a little bit.

Gainesville PD is not releasing the identity of the complainant or the specific details until the investigation is complete, per their protocol. But if the investigation concludes the allegations are legitimate, let’s hope Hamill gets the hard message that racism isn’t cool, bruh. Not even a little bit.

This is why we can’t have nice things.
