Apparently the Obamas Personally Respond to Wedding Invites and I Feel a Vow Renewal Coming On

In a move that makes us love (and miss) them even more than we already did, Barack and Michelle Obama reportedly send personal responses to wedding invitations they get in the mail, according to Twitter user @96_brooke. On July 31, Brooke posted:

Brooke’s tweet, which is hilarious in and of itself, reads:

MY MOM DEADASS SENT THE OBAMAS A WEDDING INVITATION BACK IN MARCH AND JUST RECEIVED THIS IN THE MAIL. IM HOLLERING

While the Obamas did not RSVP to Brooke’s mom’s original invitation, they apparently sent their well-wishes a few months later. The letter that Brooke’s mom received from the Obamas reads:

Congratulations on your wedding. We hope that your marriage is blessed with love, laughter, and happiness and that your bond grows stronger with each passing year. This occasion marks the beginning of a lifelong partnership, and as you embark on this journey, know you have our very best for the many joys and adventures that lie ahead.

Whether or not this is actually true (photographic evidence notwithstanding), it would be pretty cool to receive. I can’t imagine how many of these types of invitations and correspondence they get or how anybody has the time to read them, let alone respond.

I mean, shit, I have approximately 752 unread emails in my inbox this very second, and I’m not even famous.

It would appear that retirement (or at least not busily doing things like running the country) has freed the Obamas up to lift a few spirits between jet-setting on well-deserved family vacations and looking damn fly all the time.

And before you go and ruin my day by telling me this is a canned response stamp-signed by some poor sap of a staffer somewhere, just STAHP. Let me have this one thing, OK? LET ME HAVE IT.

I don’t know about anybody else, but I feel a need to renew my vows coming on.
