Scientists Discover NSFW Sea Creature, Twitter Responds Accordingly

By Joanna McClanahan of Ramblin’ Mama

This is not a sex toy. It’s a species of sea worm called the “Peanut worm.”

Seriously.

Maybe some of you have the same questions that I did:

  • Do they call it “P worm” or “Nut worm” for short?
  • Why do they call it that when the nuts are clearly missing?
  • Did someone get this picture via DM?
  • Does it hang slightly to the left?

As it turns out (and this is 100% true), it’s called the Peanut worm because it has a lengthy head that contracts when it feels threatened. The species varies in size but we can only assume most self-identify as “a solid 8 inches” and are probably slightly smaller in colder currents.

As you can imagine, when the International Business Times tweeted this photo, Twitter collectively cracked its knuckles and responded like mature adults:

God bless science and Twitter: the best combination known to man…

…and man bits.
