Man With the Yellow Hat to Star in Next Season of ‘The Bachelor’

By Gail Hoffer-Loibl of Maybe I’ll Shower Today

No monkey business here. The Man with the Yellow hat, as he is affectionately called by his adorable pet monkey, George, will be doling out the roses on the upcoming season of ‘The Bachelor.’

The news was announced by ABC during a press event held at the primates exhibit at The Museum of Natural History in NYC. George, of course, was right by his owner’s side, charming everyone and making a good case for a series of his own.

The Man, whose actual name is Ted, will search for that one special gal among 28 contestants vying to be the second most important creature in his life. Over the course of the season, through a series of group dates and intimate one-on-one excursions, each lady will have the opportunity to get to know Ted on a deeper level, with one very lucky gal finally winning his heart. George has already given his blessing for the union and promises to be a good little monkey while the two are whisked away on their elaborate honeymoon.

“We knew our search for the next Bachelor was over when Ted’s people called us and said he was interested,” said The Bachelor Executive Producer, Manny Pulater. “For years we have been trying to get The Man with the Yellow Hat and, finally, he accepted our rose. But frankly, we would have happily taken the monkey over another Nick.”

The winner of The Bachelor will earn a ring from one of New York City’s most eligible men. In addition to his gorgeous two-bedroom apartment in a pet-friendly, doorman building overlooking Central Park, Ted owns a fabulous country home just a short drive from the city.

As a respected member of the community, Ted is always offered a table at the finest restaurants, including notable Italian spot, Chef Pisghetti’s. His future bride will reap the benefits of Ted’s standing in the scientific community, with access to private museum tours and even space exploration.

When asked if his new bride might not like playing second fiddle to George, Ted joked, “What man doesn’t love playing with his monkey? There’s plenty of me to go around!”
