If you were to do a survey of parents’ greatest fears, having a child diagnosed with cancer would be near the top, if not number one.

For crooner Michael Bublé and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, that fear became a reality in November 2016. Their three-year-old son, Noah, was diagnosed with liver cancer.

At the time, Bublé posted a message on his Facebook page,

Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well. At this difficult time, we ask only for your prayers and respect for our privacy. We have a long journey in front of us and hope that with the support of family, friends and fans around the world, we will win this battle, God willing.

Since then Noah has undergone successful medical treatment in Los Angeles.

On Monday, at a press conference in Argentina for her new movie, ‘Those Who Love, Hate,’ Luisana revealed that their prayers had been answered.

The Mirror reports her as saying, “When things like those that happened to us occur, your take on life changes. It happened to us. Now I value life much more, the now and the today. Thank God, my son is well.”

Cancer is a thief.

It robs all those it touches of joy, peace and innocence. It’s a cold-hearted son of a bitch that doesn’t care whom it hurts or which victims it preys on. It doesn’t discriminate between young and old, male or female. It has the power to destroy but also the power to change. It changes the person afflicted and also those who have walked beside them.

Including me.

When my mother battled cancer, I became painfully aware of the fragility of life but also the preciousness of life. Cancer beat me down to the point that there were moments I wanted nothing more than to drive my car off of a bridge. It made me so angry I wanted to kick and scream until I had nothing left inside. It also made me grateful for small things, like hot showers, the taste of a Starbucks vanilla latte and the kiss of the sun on my face.

Cancer made me realize that so often, we have no idea what someone is struggling with. What demons they are fighting. What battles they are waging. Kindness matters.

Lopilato also acknowledged the support her family has received over the past few months.

Out of respect, I would like to thank people for their support, for the prayers they said, for their love. And I want them to know that they reached us and that it helped us a lot to come through this.

She further elaborated on what the news means for the future and for her family.

My son’s recovery is a long process as you all know, and he has to continue with check-ups. But we are very happy. We are looking forward to thinking about the future, to seeing our children grow. Seeing Noah grow and being happy gave me the strength to return and finish this film.

Both she and her husband, Michael, have been very open about their faith in God and their belief in the power of prayer throughout this journey. It has been a continuing source of strength for the couple as they have cared for and supported Noah, along with his younger brother, 14-month-old Elias.

My faith in the fact God had a miracle, helped me,” Lopilato stated. “I became strong so my son would get better. I transmitted that to all my friends and family. As a family we were always very united and we fought this together. We did everything we could for our son, so he would come through this.

They want what every parent wants: for their kids to be happy and healthy. After months of battling cancer, and winning, they can finally say that they are. There is no greater gift than that.
