Badass Mom Applauded for Bottle-Feeding in Public

By Kristina Johnson of thatmommylady.com

In a move that can only be described as courageous, Arizona mom Leanne Wright was spotted openly bottle-feeding her infant daughter in public Tuesday. Wright made no attempt to conceal what she was doing or hide herself in shame, an act of defiance that left eyewitnesses both shocked and awed.

It went down in the food court of the local mall, where we’ve learned that Wright simply sat down at a table and whipped out a bottle.

“I didn’t think anything of it at first,” said bystander Luke Williams. “But then it dawned on me that the bottle was probably filled with formula,” he said, dropping his voice to a whisper. “And I thought to myself, my God, this woman is fearless!”

Another witness attempted to photograph Wright, explaining that the display of bravery would surely go viral on Facebook. Wright tried to sidestep the attention while downplaying her actions.

“I’m not trying to be a hero or anything,” she said. “I’m just trying to get in and out of Macy’s without having a meltdown. Or my kid having a meltdown.”

Not everyone approved, however. Rumblings from a nearby pair of gawking women indicated that they felt Wright should have been breastfeeding, provided that she had a nursing cover, lactation scarf, or cloak of invisibility to keep it out of sight.
