Bachelor in Paradise Contestant Calls Rival “Needy” for Being a Mom

The Bachelor fan base is composed largely of mothers, so season three’s Bachelor in Paradise contestant, Leah Block, got herself in hot water this week when she criticized a fellow contestant as “needy” and “dependent” for being a mom.

Viewers couldn’t help but notice the lip Leah gave BIP cameras Monday night–both figuratively and literally. She came to Mexico with obvious new lip injections. I’m not judging her for that. Even I’ve had Botox, so I take no issue with cosmetic procedures–except occasionally when I raise my eyebrows and resemble a Klingon from Star Trek–but that’s a story for a different day. The point is, I had no problem with Leah’s lips…until she started talking.

Leah arrived and was super bummed to find out Olympic pants-shitting champion Chad “I shit myself” Johnson was sent home for drunken, abusive conduct (And shitting himself. Did I mention he shit his pants?)

She then asked her second choice, the pumpkin-headed Nick Viall, on a date, and he accepted.

In a dramatic turn of events, Nick used the next date card to go out with (GASP) Amanda Stantonn instead of Leah.

Leah was not happy, and I get it. Frankly, Nick is the most attractive man on the Bachelor franchise–and not just for his abs. He has charisma, intelligence and the ability to carry a conversation. But I’m a sapio-sexual, so what do I know? (Besides EVERYTHING–hence the sapio-sexuality.) I, too, would have been disappointed if Nick got away and I were left with the parade of douchebags on Herpes Island. However, Leah took rejection too far by criticizing Amanda for being a mom and equating motherhood with neediness.

At that moment, the moms of America rolled our collective eyes.

We know maternal instinct actually makes women more independent and self-sufficient because when you become a mother, your desire to take care of your child reigns supreme and your threshold for bullshit lowers.

Single moms in particular are some of the fiercest women on the planet. For that reason, Amanda Stantonn is a picture of strength, not neediness.

Leah won’t understand this until she has her own kids, so I’ve asked my women’s Bible study to start praying she gets pregnant with triplets named Caillou, Caillou, and Caillou. You know, as a way of building her character. I just want what’s best for her heart. Also, I might be a little bit petty.

Perhaps I’ve been watching too much Bachelor in Paradise.
